BrightPath Kids is seeking a passionate fulltime mentor (Assistant Director / Supervisor) for our BrightPath Appleby Line Burlington Location. This position is in classroom.

 The Assistant Director is responsible for ensuring that the centre runs smoothly, efficiently, and professionally as part of the management team.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Administration

  • Assist in the collection of fees.
  • Receive enrollments and enquiries and follow these up appropriately.
  • Demonstrate our philosophy - Develop the Mind. Nourish the Body. Inspire the Soul.
  • Assist in maintaining a list of relief staff.
  • Ensure that staff records are kept up to date and remain current.
  • Ensure that the information kept on each child is current.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Assist in keeping the computer work up to date.

Centre Duties

  • Ensure the physical environment is monitored and maintained.
  • Assist in ensuring that all Centre correspondence is attended to (Centre records are up to date at all times).
  • Understand the signals of assistance required from Centre staff.

Programming

  • Support and guide staff with observations, weekly planning and implementing activities to meet children's needs and the BrightPath Kids Curriculum.
  • If position is an in-classroom position, you must be able to have strong classroom skills.

Interactions

  • Ensure all new parents and children are orientated into the Centre.
  • Assist with resolving problems occurring at the Centre.
  • Support all new staff settle into the Centre.
  • Display a positive, supportive attitude to all staff members.
  • Encourage staff to work together as a team.
  • Facilitate Parent/ Staff meetings to provide opportunities to evaluate Centre programs and gain valuable input
  • Assist with open houses and tours.

Working with Staff

  • Prepare staff training meetings and take minutes or records.
  • Maintain professional ethics and practices at all times.
  • Provide orientation for new staff.
  • Function as a mediator.
  • Able to schedule staff shifts and make sure ratios are maintained.
  • Delegate jobs.

Working with Families

  • Communicate effectively with parents.
  • Promote the quality care and education within the Centre.
  • Oversee children’s well being.
  • Key support person to parents.

Qualifications

 To be Successful at BrightPath you Need:

  • Early Childhood Education - Child Development Supervisor Certificate is an asset.
  • A Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) Must be a member in good standing with the Ontario College of ECE. 
  • An individual who reflects a strong work ethic.
  • Reliable, on time and responsible.
  • A current Criminal Check & Vulnerable Sector screening.
  • Current Standard First Aid and infant child CPR.
  • Up to date immunization and health assessment as per the local Minister of Health Requirements.
  • 2 - 5 years’ experience in a leadership role.
  • Intermediate skills of the Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel).
  • Safe Food Handling certificate would be an asset.
  • Class 4 drivers’ license would be an asset.
